The 2023-2024 Contest

For over three decades, Lions clubs around the globe have been sponsoring a very special art contest in schools and youth groups. Creating peace posters gives children everywhere the chance to express their visions of peace and inspire the world through art and creativity.

Dare to Dream

The Fort Bend County West Lions Club sponsors the Lions Clubs International Peace Poster Contest locally. Working closely with the Katy Independent School District, we are fortunate to have many talented young Katy artists aged 11, 12, and 13 submitting their work. For the 2023-2024 contest, we ramped things up even more! Every school in Katy with 11-, 12-, and 13-year-old students have their own sponsored contest. Our goal is to flood the state with peace!

Each of the winning entries are submitted to District 2-S4, which encompasses over 65 other clubs across Aransas, Bee, Brazoria, Calhoun, DeWitt, Fort Bend, Galveston, Goliad, Jackson, Karnes, Lavaca, Matagorda, Refugio, Victoria, & Wharton counties. From there, the District entry moves up, and up. In 2020, our entry was chosen to represent the State of Texas at the international level.

Inspire, Create, and Imagine: that's what the Lions International Peace Poster Contest does. The Lions International Peace Poster Contest is an international contest that encourages children, ages 11 to 13, to creatively express what peace means to them. This contest allows students to share their unique images of peace with others, so that we may all have greater tolerance and international understanding. Thank you for your participation!

At the local level, each of the contest winners will be recognized by the club. Artists of posters advancing to the final international judging are also recognized as follows:

Dare to Dream

The 2023-2024 Contest theme is Dare to Dream. To a young person, a dream isn’t just a wish, hope or desire — it’s a path, a goal, an ambition. But achieving that dream takes hard work. So this year, we’re asking young people to show how they’ll turn their dream of a peaceful world into reality.

Peace Poster Contest Deadlines

Students ages 11, 12 or 13 as of November 15 are eligible to participate in the International Peace Poster Contest. Entries not meeting the following deadlines will be disqualified.

Contest Judging

Posters are evaluated on three criteria at each judging level: originality, artistic merit, and expression of the theme. This year's theme is Dare to Dream. The Fort Bend County West Lions Club are submitting 17 entries, one from each of the 17 Junior High Schools in Katy ISD, which advance to the District-level competition. It is important that the poster selected to advance meet all of the contest's rules and conditions. Once the winning poster is selected by each school's competition and submitted to us, we will forward it upward and onward as appropriate. In order for your entry to be considered, your parent or legal guardian's signature must be on a waiver & signature sticker which is maintained by the club.
